Some ancillary Chinwag services may be offline for a little bit now and then today, as we do a little (physical) rearrangement of some hardware in a rack.
No major changes happening, just taking a chance to do some tidying up and better cable management while we can!
You probably won't notice, but if something does seem a bit broken at some point over the next 8 hours or so, that'll probably be why!
Thanks everyone!

When the recipe says to add garlic, they mean a jar. Maybe only a single bulb if you're sensitive.
Don't you dare bring out the food if you added "half a teaspoon of garlic". You're not done. Do it again. I'll wait.

Let's talk about me
Oh come on, had to use that headline, even if'n we're just talking about my accounts. For the most part I'm on the Fediverse, although I am also on Reddit and Tumblr.
For those that remember my last post about this, I got rid of my Diaspora, the idea was for it to serve as an easy bridge between Tumblr and here, since Friendica doesn't thumbnail Tumblr post usually. Diaspora does that, until it doesn't, plus sometimes posts on Diaspora wouldn't properly display here, so that was rather pointless.
These days I just throw the memes up directly here, however there can be some lag if'n I forget to make a new post, and then I need help with alt text and @Altbot isn't entirely reliable ( @Micr0byte ), such as giving me alt text in the wrong language, or not at all. In fact today it managed to give me no alt text, but to message me and tell me that I should add the alt text to the image.
Here I have four accounts, this one, @Kāpitan which is the admin and occasionally posts server, admin or moderation commentary, @Recalls which posts all the recalls I can find, and finally @The Taur Nation which is devoted to posting centaur, lamia, naga and related artwork links and occasionally artwork, rated from G-R18G, content warninged as necessary.
Here there be questions, things about my life, and politics, though we do try to make sure they're properly tagged so you can make them go away.
If'n you don't like the politics, try my Mastodon, @Taurnsndhaus Admin , originally planned to be a back up in case something happened here, its boosting general content from here, occasionally original posts, so long as the post fits in a single tweet. Any politics that show up there will be local, St Louis, St Louis metro or Missouri, nothing national.
Like politics? Then my Tumblr is for you, here I post the most interesting and/or important stuff I find there, but I boost a lot more over there. Not much original content over there, despite how much I like it, I just tend to forget about it.
And lastly Reddit, which is mostly content I can't find here on the Fediverse, r/StLouis and ones related to my car (r/ChevyBolt) or my gig work. If that stuff starts showing up on the Fediverse, I'll start moving away from it.

The image features a cartoon-style illustration with three characters: a man, a woman, and a child. The man is in the center, wearing a brown suit with a black tie and a pipe in his mouth, smiling. The woman is on the left, wearing a red shirt and a purple skirt, also smiling. The child is on the right, wearing a blue shirt and a green skirt, holding a black object in each hand and smiling. Above them, in bold red letters, is the text: "It's not prejudice if you call it religion." Below the child, in a speech bubble, is the text: "God told us to hate you!" The background is a simple gradient of blue, suggesting a clear sky. The image is credited to BettyBowers.com, with the copyright year 2015.

The image features a woman in a pink outfit with red trim, her hand over her mouth in a surprised expression. The background is white with a black banner at the top that reads "Religious Freedom" in white text. Below the woman, various phrases are listed in different colors, each accompanied by a biblical reference. The phrases include: "Beat your slaves! Exodus 21:21," "Silence your women! 1 Corinthians 14:34," "Dislike your Jews! 1 Thessalonians 2:14-16," "Obey your slavemaster! Ephesians 6:5," "Desert your family! Mark 10:29," "Hate your wife! Luke 14:26," "Stone your children! Deuteronomy 21:18-21," and "Marry your rapist! Deuteronomy 22:28-29." At the bottom, there is a statement in white text on a black background: "For when your country becomes more enlightened than your god." The image is a critique of religious teachings, using a mix of colors and fonts to emphasize the phrases.

The image is a black and white pencil drawing of the Statue of Liberty's face, focusing on the left side. The drawing is highly detailed, showcasing the texture of the stone and the intricate folds of the crown. The eye is depicted with a tear streaming down the cheek, adding a poignant element to the image. The background is plain white, emphasizing the statue's features. In the bottom right corner, the text "JULY 4, 2025" is written in bold red letters, contrasting with the grayscale drawing.

@Taurnsndhaus Admin You might need to go to the original post on my Friendica, alt bot didn't send me alt text, but did send me a message telling me to add the alt text to my image, just the latest glitch
@Taurnsndhaus Admin Weird, I don't see it there or here, but the post before and after this one worked fine

The image shows a group of men in suits, likely senators, gathered together in a legislative chamber. They are embracing each other, with their arms around each other's shoulders, suggesting a moment of unity or prayer. The setting appears to be a formal government building, with wooden paneling and rows of seats visible in the background. The men are dressed in dark suits, and some are wearing ties. The image is overlaid with text that reads: "Rev. Benjamin Cremer [@]Brcremer When I see senators praying for the passage of a bill that will harm the poor, the sick, and the hungry, I think of Isaiah 1:15: When you spread out your hands in prayer, I hide my eyes from you; even when you offer many prayers, I am not listening. Your hands are full of blood." The text is presented in white font on a black background, contrasting with the image above.

The image is a screenshot of a social media post by a user named "onbearfeet" dated July 3, 2024. The post is about PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) and its relation to the 4th of July celebrations, specifically fireworks. The background of the post is black, and the text is white, making it easy to read.
The post begins with a friendly reminder to fellow USAmericans about the impact of fireworks on individuals with PTSD. It highlights four key points:
- The recent history of two large, active wars has led to a significant number of veterans with PTSD.
- The population of veterans with PTSD is a small part of the larger group of people living with the disorder.
- People with PTSD are more likely to live in low-income, crowded areas, where access to care might be limited.
- The exaggerated startle response often associated with PTSD is not the only symptom caused by sudden loud noises.
The post emphasizes the importance of considering the impact of fireworks on individuals with PTSD, especially those who may not be able to sleep or experience other distressing symptoms. It suggests that scheduled fireworks displays are more tolerable than random loud noises, and encourages people to be considerate of those who may need to leave early or find quieter places to avoid distress.
The post concludes with a plea for understanding and support, using hashtags such as #ptsd, #kat has ptsd, #4th of July, and #mental health support to highlight the message.

The image shows a social media post with a black background. The post is from a user named "pocket-deer-boy," indicated by a circular profile picture featuring a cartoonish red deer head with a white face and a pink nose. The username is accompanied by three emojis: a purple face with a crown, a face with a paw print, and a face with a cat ear. The post is dated "May 7" and includes a "Follow" button and three dots for more options.
The text of the post reads: "imagine if they gendered you from birth and then assigned you a list of interests and personality traits even if that felt horribly untrue for you and you hated when people did that for as long as you could remember but every time you complained about it people got confused."

They would surely try their guns, but a 2,000 pound bull won't even slow down for 9mm or even 10mm pistol shots unless certain very small target areas are hit.
Here's a report of someone who was charged by a moose while carrying a 9mm pistol, managed to shoot the moose right in the heart, and still got trampled before the moose died. Note that a big bull on a farm can weigh even more than a moose

The bull may well die after the fact, but he would get the distinct pleasure of taking out some or all of the ICE agents first.
