Where are the Thinkpad people on the fediverse? Iβm becoming slightly open to the idea of having a computer that isnβt a MacBook, for the first time in, well, since Macs. Apparently the Thinkpad is the one to go for but I now discover they have a whole load of numbers and letters.
Looking at the specifications on YouTube for βgreatest Thinkpad everβ or βThinkpad to install Linux onβ type of videos it looks to me that theyβre fine for boring office stuff but Iβm using Macs for art and design, and the thinkpads they all mention seem to have basic non-retina screens.
I should point out that Iβve never ever used the βwindowsβ OS, so have never used non Mac computers, but Iβve slightly used Linux as a user (not an expert) since the turn of the century but not on a serious level for art, not while Iβve got Macs sitting around.

It is unusual to have a vehicle license plate named after a celebrity. I can't think of any other ones, but there are so many specialty plates. There are lots of animals and plants and charity causes. But not celebrities. That confederate thing though, Arizona is basically the lost confederate state, founded by confederates after the civil war.

Anyone know of an avatar software I could use for my videos? I typically do short talking head videos on my Android phone, and thought it'd be fun to replace m'self with my fursona, or perhaps my ponysona or even have a choice of my characters. I did a quick web search, and everything I found is AI which seems unnecessary and likely overkill for simple motion tracking and animation, since I don't expect its motions or mouth movement to be an exact match to mine.

Can I please have some opinions from accessibility experts / screen reader users? We have a button with a dropdown list to perform actions (publish, unpublish, etc.) on selected items. The button is disabled when no items are selected. What is correct: disabled or aria-disabled? If aria-disabled, do we need to put more information on the button apart from the name "actions"? Ughh, might be time for a new phone. Yesterday my phone wouldn't charge⦠Actually that's not quite right, it will charge, but real slow and heats up. Maybe it was just a fluke, but wireless charging hasn't been working for the better part of a week. Prolly get the same one again, the 2026 G Power really doesn't offer much, dumping the flaky wireless charging and bumping the batter from 5000 to 5200, along with a couple new colours.
Thirteen months, not bad honestly, though that prolly doesn't sound great, but I do a gig version of UPS' work, 4 to 5 days, 6 to 10 hour days, breaking once or twice to hit the bathroom and grab a cup of coffee. There's no phone who's battery will last the whole day, so if'n I'm going from than 2 miles and have less than 90% battery, I usually plug in for a top off, which really isn't that much, but combined with end of day charging to full, I have a funny feeling I've done more charging cycles in those thirteen months than normal, at 2, maybe as much as 4 times as much. Kinda explains it dying so soon, right?
So why buy another? Because frankly its the best rugged phone bargain out there. Sure, Motorola at best claims its durable, not rugged, but with a mil spec drop rating and IP 68 and 69 water ratings? At $350 compared to $650 starting for a real rugged phone, its hard to beat, and I've certainly tested it, I've dropped it in the warehouse on a concrete floor, onto the street, fumbled and sent it flying, scanned and photographed packages with rain running off the phone, I've really put it to the test. Now that there's a 2026, looks like I can get one for $250 unlocked from Motorola (funny thing, the new prices haven't hit their Amazon store where the 2025 costs more than a 2026 right now), and I'll prolly keep the old as a back up.

What is interesting is that this is a cover of the Rascals version which is a cover of the Olympics song which doesn't use the original lyrics written by Rudy Clark and Arthur Resnick and recorded by Lemme B Good. So does that mean we all know the same wrong words to Good Lovin'?
