We are aware of roskomnadzor just having ramped up their blocking efforts in #russia against #deltachat 's default onboarding chatmail relay. Signal, Whatsapp are degraded/blocked for a longer time already.

1) Delta Chat has first class shadow-socks proxy support (try ss:// links you can find ... Delta has management-proxy UX)

2) many other chatmail relays work fine and inter-chatmail/email server traffic continues unimpeded

3) if you can help with analyzing please drop into our DMs.

I really hope that people realize that "AI browsers" are just an even faster way for all of your data to end up with some data broker being sold on the web somewhere.

I really hope people realize that "AI" is mostly a tool for doing that, and that's part of why it's getting pushed so hard.

I really hope...

When I was a kid, I could just walk outside. There were no cameras, there was no smartphone betraying my every move, there was nothing but me, the breeze, and the quiet of the countryside as I walked.
Most of us will never know how that feels ever again. To be truly outside the reach of the constant surveillance state we now live in. I feel so bad for the people that will never experience real privacy, those who will never be able to truly "get away from it all". But we're already past that point for the majority of people, at least in the U.S., and increasingly in other countries.

'Scrapheap challenge' response to hotel blaze shows #IsleOfWight #fire service on brink of critical failure

The service was unable to initially send the right number of fire engines (three) due to the poor availability of appliances on the Island. Instead, it initially sent two, leaving just two fire engines available to cover the whole of the Island.

The service was also unable to provide a second aerial ladder platform, again due to a lack of firefighters.

Island services were transferred to the mainland for cost savings. Unreliable ferry service to #IOW used in emergency to move mainland fire engines

Here's the alt-text for the image:

The image is a meme with a black and white portrait of a person looking directly at the viewer. There's text overlaid on the image, both at the top and bottom. At the top it says, "They say" in a simple font. At the bottom, it says, "I died in 1537." The background of the image appears to be a flat, neutral gray. The overall presentation creates a humorous and slightly unsettling effect due to the serious portrait paired with the stark text.

The image is a stark, solid red background with large, white text overlayed. The text is a sequence of phrases, each separated by a newline. It begins with "Denying aid" and continues with "Destroying farms," "Flooding streets," "Releasing troops," "Releasing boats," "Releasing farmers," "Releasing troops," "Releasing boats," "Releasing farmers," "Releasing troops," "Releasing boats," "Releasing farmers." The phrases are repeated several times throughout the image, creating a chaotic and alarming visual effect. The text is uniformly white and sans-serif. The overall impression is one of disruption, crisis, and potentially political commentary.

@Flash Mob Of One Bush and the Republicans are mainly to blame though, they took advantage of 9/11 to push through anti-terrorism and pro-security laws such as the creation of Homeland Security, everybody after that expanded on it until Trump.

This is Trump and republicans' shutdown. Trump ordered it. Republicans obeyed. Oklahoma families lose SNAP if the government shutdown continues or not. Republicans voted to cut SNAP program funds in the Big Beautiful Bill and in their CR. Democrats keep SNAP funds in their CR.

@georgemonbiot.bsky.social thinks a written constitution would somehow impede a #Fascist takeover of the United Kingdom. I admire his optimism: look how well it's working in the United States.

I mean, a written constitution would be a Good Thing, but it's worth no more than the paper it's written on, unless people broadly stand up to defend it; which they won't.

The image is a digital illustration depicting a plane flying towards the White House. The plane is dark and imposing, with a sense of threat conveyed through its silhouette. The White House is prominently displayed in the background, appearing vulnerable. The illustration uses a muted color palette, emphasizing the drama of the scene. getchipdrop.com is a service in the States that provides free mulch. The downside is you don't get to really specify type, quantity, or exact delivery time. It's basically a queue so when an arborist has a job nearby they can drop the load at your location instead of driving to a dump site. Came through yesterday for us with the biggest load we've gotten and great quality. Guess they're working on oak trees for the city right now. Going to be a long day of moving mulch!

Tearing down the East Wing is not the goal nor the prize. If you need to build a tall structure on that site, youโ€™re going to need to dig to lay foundation and support. That sure gives a LOT of cover to bug the Presidential Emergency Operations Center which lies underneath, and encase them into concrete.

Remember the US Embassy building we built in Moscow and quickly abandoned after it was discovered to be highly bugged? That HAPPENED and was a very real thing.

Okay, does anyone here on Masto, the linux nerd capital of the net, have a guide for how to switch to Linux Mint or another distro without losing all my shit? Like, if I just put all my important art files and such on an external, will that external and those files work and operate like I expect them to if I go to open them on Mint? Obviously, some stuff might need to be converted, but I'd really love to get off Mr. Microsoft's Wild Ride. With my shit intact, if possible.

reshared this

in reply to .ex//weis

@.ex//weis Yep, that's the easiest solution, put your data on an external, and wipe and install on the main drive if you can live without Windows, otherwise you'll have to partition the drive, but that's automatic, you just choose install alongside in the installer, and it takes care of the rest. Mint also has a really good forum if'n you run into problems, and the Reddit group is also pretty good.
in reply to .ex//weis

basically copy the contents of /home to a drive and back again, and you're good. some settings do not transfer, like wifi configuration you've set up as "accessible to all users".

if someone can walk you through setting up /home on a second partition on the same disk, this is optimal. you can distro hop or reinstall and never have to worry too much about losing your files. just be careful of any install option that says "erase disk and install [distro]". and make sure when you're installing a new distro, you go looking for some option that says "use sda2 as /home" and that any option to format is unchecked.
