A person who wrote a fusion of a cringy comming of age story, and a zero to hero story with an high school arch in a inconsitend magic system turned out to be a shitty person. Her HP universe is IMHO as shallow as she is. PPL grow out of it because its static and non evolving.
As you might be able to tell, I don't like HP. But that is a thing of personal preferences. I'm disgusted by J.K. Rowling and that is a thing about basic human decency.

they swore an oath to do this, and case law comes down real hard on helping traitors

Your peers, and your ability to organize with them, will be your salvation: your neighbors, your co-workers, your friends and family. Those are the ones that will actually have your back.
