Almost forgot...
This is my tradition to share this every year, the only New Year's song I know, though I can't imagine one better than this.

Ok, I think they just broke my brain
I mean its not like I would've been surprised to hear the song modified, maybe gayed up if'n it were Dee Snider or George Michael singing it, or for a straight guy replacing Santa Claus with Mrs Claus, but for Nathaniel Ratecliff and the Night Sweats to play it straight? Yeah, I think they broke my brain.

More Christmas music
And of course its not exactly traditional, because where's the fun in that?

A little Christmas music
Today lets be more traditional, I think Little Drummer Boy is my favorite Christmas carol, and this is if not my favorite version, its certainly right up there.

Always like this song
And never knew the origin of the line 'You don't have to call me Mister mister, the whole world calls me Hank', but now I do

I do like Andy Grammar
He's got some fun stuff, while this isn't my favorite, it isn't terrible, and I feel like I should know who the weirdo in the elevator is.
This I think is a better one, and the video is so fun.

Feeling rough tonight
Not sure why though. Yes, I didn't sleep well nor much last night, but that should just mean tired, instead my neck, upper back, shoulders and feet all hurt.
#today was a good enough day, because of the sleeping problems I cancelled my shift with Better Trucks, but in the end wound up working any how even though I didn't need to as I had the opportunity to work in Wood River, somewhere I have been in at least six months, maybe longer. Funny, thanks to the tariffs, Better Trucks is drying up, but one of my other gigs is heating up as it looks like UPS is trying to build their own alternative to the USPS. Well, money in my pocket as long as things keep going like this, so no complaint here.
Oh, and this song just feels appropriate today: youtu.be/YApDcvIhlWw

Eddie Vedder is awesome
He's the lead singer of Pearl Jam, and I'm sure I'm not the only one that remembers when Jeremy came out along with a few other great songs during the grunge era, right?
Thanks to Hawaaii Five-0, the new one, not the classic one, I got turned on to The End, which is a great song, particularly acoustically...
I've shared that before, but here's something new that the algorithm recently turned me on to...
Doesn't sound like Roger Waters could've handled the singing himself, and I really like Eddie's voice here, along with him not trying to imitate the original, but instead singing it his way, which I think works quite well.

So, the march of covers is done
And it was fun. I was surprised how easy it was to come up with things between SXM and my own memories of good covers, I didn't have to resort to looking in my collection for ideas until the last week or so. I also got one of my mini-goals done, and almost my other one, no songs were repeated, and we only repeated one artist, but in both cases, it was a partnership, and he was the only common element, so does that count as same artist?
This wasn't just a case of me tossing out songs either, for nearly every one of them, I researched the song, mostly on #Wikipedia , listened to the original and in many cases, notable covers if there were any beyond the one I shared. I also tried to only share covers that I thought were at least interesting if not transformative. I also had fun showing off how many genres of music I like, I mean how diverse was the songs?
So, if'n you missed any of the #music I shared, there is a public playlist for it on YouTube, go enjoy, and feel free to tell me what you think of any of my choices, or suggest better versions or other covers I might like.
Well, I guess the month of covers is history after this
So why not have some history? Originally released by World Party in 93, Eliza released her cover in 05. Described by Wallinger as 'a précis of Bertrand Russell's A History of Western Philosophy in four verses, I think it works better as a folk song than their original rock version.
We're going west to the pet shop
I was rather surprised to find that this is a cover, but then considering the length of time between the original and the cover with no other versions popping up, I suppose it's understandable. It's rather interesting what they added, feeling it sounded like a Soviet march, they added a new bridge and coda to play that up.

It's a day fit for a king
Now here's one you don't expect a cover for, though modern swing is the right style for it, no?
Time to jet
This is from the Armageddon soundtrack, and I can't really say why I have a copy of that, I haven't seen the movie, but I must've heard something from the soundtrack and decided to get it, and it wasn't this song, rather this was a pleasant surprise from it. I can't say that it's better than Peter, Paul and Mary's version, but it's a fine version.
Time to get crazy
Finally having to dip into my collection to come up with songs, not bad for twenty-three days in, right? I've got three versions of this in my collection, Queen's original, Dwight Yoakam's, and this one, though I should try the Stray Cats version as well and see how it differs as Brian fronts both groups.
Speaking of the Stray Cats, my alternate choice for today was Rock This Town, but would the Brian Setzer Orchestra version even count as a cover?
