The image shows a tweet from a verified account on X.com. The account is named "Angela Dennis" and the handle is "[@]AngelaDWrites." The tweet is set against a black background with white text. The content of the tweet reads: "Racism and racist ideology is not a 'political view.' It's not about left or right it's about right and wrong. Framing them as a difference of opinion is dangerous because it minimizes the harm, violence, and inequality it produces. Political debates are about policy. Racism is about stripping people of humanity and denigrating their existence. Don't confuse the two." The tweet emphasizes the distinction between racism and political views, arguing that racism is not a matter of opinion but a matter of right and wrong, and that framing it as such can minimize its harmful effects.

murder is still not justified. Racists go about their lives never killing anyone. Murderers are far more evil. A racist still has the opportunity to change. A murderer takes that chance from them. Oh and btw, Charlie Kirk repeatedly stated that he believed in judging a person on the content of their character and not on the color of their skin. He was NOT a racist.

You know what is the problem with AI/LLMs? It's not if they work or not. It's not if they are good or not, if this is true Intelligence or not. We can scold AI, we can pull the theory, the paper, the philosophers, we can show again and again that aside of highly specialized, narrow usecases with specific extremely high quality data, LLMs and AI is pile of horse manure but it will not matter. Why? Because it's currently profitable. It makes money. It's kind of like with cryptocurrencies - the base technology has some uses, aside of that they are useless, unfortunately enough people believed in the profit, so although you cannot go to the shop and buy bread with your BTC, millions of people cling to it because it started to have VALUE and generate PROFIT.

There is a scene from the profetic SF masterpiece by Paul Verhoeven - namely "Robocop" that fits here like a glove. I'm talking about the scene when Dick Jones (played by Ronny Cox) confronts Bob Morton (played by Miguel Ferrer) in a bathroom. Jones, a hardened old corporate officer says one sentence:

_I had a guaranteed military sale with ED 209 - renovation program, spare parts for twenty-five years... *Who cares if it worked or not?*_

And that's the point. Until money flows - who cares if it works or not?

Hakeem Jefferies’s team is now openly mocking fellow Democrats who are criticizing him for refusing to endorse the Democratic nominee for New York City mayor.

The Democrat party is 30 points underwater. Mamdani is 16 points above water. Imagine the arrogance of being down nearly 50 points and still talking smack. Absurd.

Speaking of Chris Van Hollen, it would seem like an absolute no-brainer at this point for Democrats in the Senate to replace Schumer with him as their caucus leader. He's currently doing all the public stuff the minority leader should be doing in the absence of a functional leader and he's more within the center of the party than other Dem Senators who make any sense or have any heart.

The image features a warm orange background with two stylized pumpkins in the center. The larger pumpkin is orange with a brown stem, while the smaller one is brown. Surrounding the pumpkins are several autumn leaves in shades of orange and brown, along with small black stars. Below the pumpkins, there is text in a playful, handwritten font that reads: "ugh why is summer so clingy? like dude, it's over. fall & i have STUFF to do." The text is in black, contrasting with the orange background, and emphasizes the word "STUFF" in all caps. The overall composition is simple and cheerful, with a focus on the seasonal theme of fall.

It's been interesting seeing who was (still) on spotify and saw this as the final straw.

This is a helpful and frightening perspective on why Americans have such different views of who Charlie Kirk was. Screenshot from FB; original poster's name is in the screenshot but I'm not typing it because she might not want it searchable outside FB:

"One thing that has become really clear since yesterday is that we live in at least two different realities. Talking to a friend who only knew Charlie as a Christian motivational speaker because that's all that ever came across her feed. Showed me videos I've never seen before of him saying perfectly reasonable and empowering things.

"I showed her videos she'd never seen before of his racism, misogyny, homophobia, advocating for violence against specific groups of people. She was horrified by his remarks about Pelosi's husband's attacker being bailed out and celebrated for his violent act. She was horrified by a number of things that he said, but she had never seen or heard them before, the same as I had never seen or heard the generalized clips of him sounding like a perfectly nice loving man and father.

"Neither of us had a whole picture of this man. I mentioned he was a known white supremacist and she thought I was joking. She talked about him giving a speech about finding your purpose and doing good in the world and I thought she was joking.

"I saw why this friend was mourning the loss of a person she thought was a good person. My friend, bless her, saw why I feel the way I do about him. We understood each other better. In spite of a multi-billion dollar internet machine specifically focused on keeping us apart. Because we talked to each other with the desire to listen and to learn rather than the desire to change someone else's mind or to be 'right'.

"None of those motivational things he said change my opinion about him because they don't erase the negativity, the subtle calls for violence, the belittling and denigrating of other races religions genders etc. His negative and blaming comments about homeless people, the poor, and victims of domestic violence. His comments about rounding up people who didn't think like him and putting them in camps where their behavior could be corrected. That time he said empathy was a made-up word he didn't believe in. That other time he said the Civil Rights Act was a mistake. The time he said most people are afraid when they get on a plane and see that there's a black pilot. His anti-vaccination rhetoric and his active campaigning against people being allowed to wear masks for their own health. His open support of fascism and white supremacy. To me, all of those are fully unchristian sentiments. Those are undeniable and just one of them would be a deal-breaker for me. All of them together are a picture of a man who was polarizing, enraged a lot of people and rightly so, but even with all of that I would never wish upon him or especially his children the end that he got.

"Oh, and my friend had never heard, and God help me I don't know how she escaped the news, but she had never heard of the Minnesota legislators who were shot in June. The husband and wife and dog who were killed, one after throwing themselves over their child to protect the child. The other couple who somehow survived. Politically motivated attacks specifically because they were democrats. She learned about those shootings that happened months ago because I showed her Charlie Kirk's comments about them. The kidnapping plot against a female Midwestern Democratic governor. The assassination attempt against Pennsylvania's democratic governor. All things Charlie had plenty to say about while supporting the Second Amendment and bashing the Democratic party. She didn't know about any of it because we're all living in two different worlds and none of us have the whole story."

This is corporate media today:
•CBS: fires Colbert for mocking Trump
•ABC: fires Terry Moran for slamming Stephen Miller as “world class hater”
•MSNBC: fires Matt Dowd for saying “hateful thoughts lead to hateful words leads to hateful actions”
•FOX: stands by Brian Kilmeade as he calls for Nazi style state murder of America’s 600,000 homeless people

Corporate media has wholly abdicated its duty to the American people. All to appease Trump. This is what state media looks like.

What a disgrace.

Brian Kilmeade made an empty apology on Fox today for his comments. He did a "sorry but not sorry" style apology where he tried to walk it back saying "some" homeless people deserve empathy and compassion.

Just disgraceful he gets to half heatedly apologize for literal Nazi level shit

Extremist violence is overwhelmingly from the right, not the left.

Interestingly, Republicans will try to refute this by saying the information is false because the source is Jewish. They will then deny being antisemitic.

in reply to Qasim Rashid, Esq.

On average, murder rates are much higher in Republican-run states because Republicans are a bunch of violent savages unfit to participate in civilization.

Proton Mail Falls Under U.S. Jurisdiction

If you read their Terms of Service, at first glance, they reference the laws of Switzerland. However, because they now have offices in the United States — along with registrations, trademarks, copyrights, and patents in the U.S. — they also cite U.S. laws. The only two countries you'll see mentioned are Switzerland and the United States — nothing else.

Their CEO has, on several occasions, also praised Donald Trump. Additionally, Proton left the Fediverse because they couldn’t silence users there as they have on platforms like Facebook or Reddit. The fact that they’re now trying to silence journalists doesn’t surprise me.

There are better alternatives to Proton Mail.

How do you rate Hushmail.com? They are based in Canada but I have no other facts about them. Thx so much.
in reply to Jay

@skflyfish

> How do you rate Hushmail.com?

They have an entire page dedicated to U.S. healthcare practices (concerning HIPAA compliance).

HIPAA is a federal law. Additionally, some states have their own healthcare regulations that may require certification or impose legal requirements beyond the federal standards — All of which, of course, would place the provider under U.S. jurisdiction.
hushmail.com/plans/healthcare-…

But if that weren’t enough — and it is — let’s take it a step further anyway, because we can in this instance. Their privacy policy states:

> Hush Communications Canada Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Hush Communications Corporation, a private Delaware, USA company.

Dang! And to think I thought I was doing well with a Canadian company.

And thank you for your reply. Much appreciated.

in reply to Jay

@skflyfish

Honestly, don’t feel bad.

I’ve lost count of how many times a company that appeared to be outside the United States was, in fact, owned by another corporation — and sometimes that corporation was owned by yet another one — but ultimately, it all led back to the U.S.

It’s not an easy thing to keep track of, and many corporations either hide in plain sight or simply don’t advertise the connection.
