Having used proton for my business email prior to this debacle, I really don't recommend it. Encryption means that the search function works very badly. FWIW I went back to Fastmail (Australian) which works great. It isn't E2EE but I never once had an email be E2EE anyway because hardly anyone uses it.
Proton Drive is half-baked too. I use Nextcloud hosted with Hetzner (Germany)
