The image shows a ceremonial procession featuring a horse-drawn carriage with ornate gold detailing and red wheels, being pulled by white horses. The carriage is accompanied by mounted guards in red uniforms with gold accents, riding white horses. The scene takes place in a park-like setting with greenery and a paved path. In the background, there are uniformed personnel and a white van, suggesting a formal event. The text overlay reads: "As a Brit, I'm finding Donald Trump's visit hilarious - they've given him a little trundle around the grounds of Windsor in a fancy carriage, as they can't take him out in public without him being utterly humiliated by protesters. Makes you proud to be British!! πŸ˜‚πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§"

The argument that Jordan Peterson and others made against calling people by their chosen names was primarily "free speech": you can't make me say name X rather than name Y.

So I'm really looking forward to hearing from these people as more and more teachers and healthcare providers are being legally forced to deadname people. That should be a really enlightening discussion.

Malignant narcissists can't stand when you make fun of them because they lack any real sense of humor or introspection. And they're totally fine with trampling on the First Amendment if it makes their critics quiet down and self-censor. From NYT:

"President Trump threatened on Thursday to revoke broadcasting licenses over late-night hosts who speak negatively about him, escalating an assault against the media. β€œThey’re giving me all this bad press, and they’re getting a license,” Mr. Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One, after ABC suspended the late-night Jimmy Kimmel Live show. β€œI would think maybe their license should be taken away.”

Then you have his lapdog FCC chief Brendan Carr doing his best mafia tough guy imitation threatening ABC's broadcast licenses if they didn't cancel Jimmy Kimmel, which of course they did. In some ways that's appropriate, because this entire administration is operated a lot like a mafia organization -- shaking everyone down for money and extorting companies and universities over speech they don't like.

Just passed multiple Charlie Kirk memorials here in Albuquerque.

All along San Mateo Blvd and on Menaul Blvd.

Hailing him as a "hero". A "patriot". A "martyr".

RACIST and MISOGYNIST are more appropriate.

They're all in the city's poorest part of town.

Wanna bet the racist megachurches that beat up Black Lives Matter and Native protesters in 2020 are behind this shit?

The same ones who are backing racists in the mayoral election?

Fuck them.

Easy call to action: Congress passed the 340B program to let hospitals buy medications at deep discounts for low income patients.

Hospitals are instead charging full price, defeating the point & exploiting patients. Sign to demand Congress pass "340B ACCESS Act" to stop this abuse: bit.ly/3KaNUns

BREAKING: Senate confirms 48 of Trump’s nominees at once after changing the chamber’s rules

This is exactly why I was screaming at Biden and Senate Dems to abolish the Jim Crow filibuster and pass the legislation that the American people wanted and deserved. But feckless leadership was so beholden to "norms" they refused.

We knew the GOP would do this. And now they've done it. And Schumer is still pointing at an irrelevant rule book of norms. smh

Oof, good day #today for the most part, kinda interesting actually, had half dozen flat packed shippers for Dr Pepper that I delivered to the local bottling plant, that was new. Feet are really sore though, my boots are wearing out, time for new ones. I'm getting tired of spending about $100 every 6 mos. or so, so I could use some recommendations, what I do is basically the same thing as UPS or FedEx, and I want either more durable boots or repairable, maybe Red Wing?

If you still have an account on academia.edu, you should probably delete it.

I'm not sure how their new terms are legal: they give the site the right to use your data *in any manner*. This is mainly to help them scrape academic work and republish/mangle parts of it through AI without credit: but these terms go way beyond that into your likeness, your voice, even your signature.

Please boost this to academics you know. Further PSA elements in thread:

in reply to James Baillie

Further PSA 1, how to do account deletion on Academia.edu without agreeing to the new terms of service on the way:

If you want to delete your account, open academia.edu, do NOT click accept to the new terms, but instead click "privacy policy". You can then go to the top left dropdown menu with your name on it, click "account settings", scroll to the bottom of the page, and there's the account deletion option. You can even leave them a little note if you want though I doubt they'll read it.

Two egregious things about Academia.edu:

1) their new TOS are "irrevocable" and "transferable", and explicitly include the use of your name, likeness, photo and voice "for any purpose."

They could literally make you the new spokesperson for neo-nazis, or chicken mcnuggets, under those terms.

2) someone here says that Academia.edu has already sent out emails purporting to be from them, urging folks to join academia.edu or whatever. One went to a leading figure in the person's field.

The image shows two tweets side by side on a black background. The first tweet, from a user named "matt" with the handle "[@]mattxiv," reads: "There is no requirement to take part in this whitewashing campaign, and refusing to join in doesn’t make anyone a bad person. It’s a choice to write an obituary that begins 'Joseph Goebbels was a gifted marketer and loving father to six children.'" The second tweet, from "The Nation" with the handle "[@]thenation," states: "Charlie Kirk was an unrepentant racist, transphobe, homophobe, and misogynist who often wrapped his bigotry in Bible verses because there was no other way to pretend that it was morally correct." The tweet from The Nation includes a timestamp of "9:44 PM Β· 9/12/25" and has "465K Views." The layout is simple, with the tweets in white text boxes against a black background, and the user handles and timestamps in smaller text.

The image features a screenshot from a news broadcast, specifically from "The Megyn Kelly Show," with a woman in a red turtleneck speaking. The text overlay includes a quote from Megyn Kelly paying tribute to Charlie Kirk, discussing the divisive impact of former President Obama. Below the quote, there are two tweets. The first tweet by John Harwood ([@]JohnJHarwood) criticizes Obama for winning two presidential elections, implying it caused a traumatic brain injury to white racists. The second tweet by Evan DeSimone ([@]Smorgasboredom) praises Megyn Kelly for stating that having a black president made everyone "insane," calling it a "cogent diagnosis of the American Right." The image also includes the logos of "The Megyn Kelly Show" and "The Resistance."

Here in Florida, when the governor went after Disney for free speech, Democrats, liberals, the left, and people across the country stood up for the corporation and loudly pushed back against fascism.

Yesterday, @disney sold all those people out and instead threw their Mickey Mouse hat in with the fascist government.

The image shows a series of three tweets from a user named "ally" with the handle "[@]missmayne," posted within the last day. Each tweet addresses the high costs of essential services and the disparity in wages for those providing these services.

  1. The first tweet criticizes the high cost of nursing homes, which can bankrupt grandparents, while nursing home aides struggle to make ends meet, often relying on food banks. It highlights the disparity between the high cost of care and the low wages of those providing it.
  2. The second tweet discusses the high cost of daycare, which consumes a parent's entire paycheck, while daycare providers earn only $10 per hour and often need to take on second jobs to make ends meet.
  3. The third tweet points out the high cost of college, which puts students into debt for life, while professors often live in their cars, suggesting a disconnect between the high cost of education and the modest wages of educators.

Each tweet includes engagement metrics such as the number of replies, retweets, and likes, indicating the level of interaction and interest from other users. The tweets are accompanied by a profile picture of a woman in a headscarf, adding a personal touch to the messages.
