So someone posted their favorite sign over on Mastodon, and I replied with what is my favorite sign, the 'No Straight' sign.
First time I saw this was on a new intersection where one side is a highway ramp, and the other a two-way road, apparently 'Do Not Enter' signs weren't enough, so they put one of these up. Honestly, I'm surprised to know its a standard, Missouri isn't exactly known for sticking to standards, whether its abbreviations like LA for lane, or the non-standard all text signs on the road to my house announcing the road closure ahead and the truck ban on it.

I took part in a debate at the university, 'AI in academia: embrace or resist?'
Before the debate, a poll was taken, showing that most of attendees were on the "embrace" side; after the debate, most were "resist". I had not expected we could sway the opinion, it made me very happy.

In Denmark there has only been one school shooting. Not in 2025 — one school shooting in the entire history of Denmark.
The US has 121 guns per 100 people. Denmark has just 10.

Ghost is more similar to Substack as it optionally allows paid subscriptions to newsletters. A lot of journalists use paid newsletters to get income from their writing.
WordPress is more of a general blog and site creation platform and AFAIK doesn't have the optional paid content.
@moshimotsu Well, @john worked for WordPress years ago and if I remember correctly founded Ghost to create a better, more reliable, focused, fast, modern blogging experience, especially for professional writers like journalists.
So I've always thought of Ghost as an alternative to WordPress, or an open source alternative to Medium.
But the support for payed newsletter makes it also a valid alternative to Substack.
