Ok, right hit me with your github replacement recommandations.

Basically, I want whatever the lowest effort replacement is. Ideally, it would be one command to move something over and the replacement would still allow easy forking and making issues and all of that kind of stuff.

Would be willing to pay, but not per repo.

Must be outside the US.

Is there some sort of fedi git?

Being chronically ill is not lazy.

The last week has been concrete proof that the Conservative Party of Canada put zero effort into vetting their candidates. None. How can they expect to run a country when they canโ€™t be bothered to do basic due diligence? #canada #cdnelxn

Apparently #USAG Pam Bondi doesn't think being truthful is in the interest of the US:

Her excuse for putting a #DOJ atty on administrative leave for telling the truth: "Justice Dept attys are obligated to zealously defend the interests of the United States."

If you didnโ€™t knowโ€”donotcall.gov/ isnโ€™t just for stopping robocalls. You can also report spam and phishing texts or scam calls. It only takes a minute, and every report helps fight back against these shady tactics.

If I boost too much about the protests today/tomorrow, you can:
--- Click "hide boosts" on my profile (works until you undo it manually) -
or
--- Mute me for 24 hours (or a different intervall). This feature of time options is not available on all apps but in the browser version for sure.
It's great because people are unmuted automatically after a certain time.

I boost protest posts because protest is important and I want to show solidarity.

AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler: President Trump basically, with the stroke of a pen, took away the collective bargaining agreements of 700,000 union workersโ€ฆ To cancel someoneโ€™s rights like that is a slippery slope.

And for those out there listening who say, โ€˜Oh wow, it sucks to be a federal workerโ€™โ€”theyโ€™re coming after you next. This is essentially a beta test for how far they can go. Next will be rippling out across the public sector at the state and local level, and then into the private sector.

China just cut off the supply of five critical minerals to the U.S.: dysprosium, terbium, tungsten, indium, and yttrium. They are required for jet engines, magnets, computer parts, lasers, and much more - and China controls most of the world's production of each of them

West Brookfield, MA. About 120 people in the pouring rain! I'm the one in the white coat and blue knit hat.

Central MA is full of tiny farming towns. There were several protests like this one in at least 4 neighboring towns.

Okay, time to #AskFedi because search engines are shit now and this is driving me up a wall

A rapper sampled the #BlackStar performance (usually referred to as "What Is Beef") from Chappelle Show back in 2003 and made part of it a chorus for a song. Anybody remember who it was? I'm reasonably certain it was a song from between 2010 and 2020. Not many more clues than that right now. Should have favorited the song when I first heard it, but I didn't. Meh

A great image showing exploding the illusion of capitalism-in-one-country!
---
Workers on or near American assembly lines must be opening boxes of components from all over the world to create "Made In America" products.

The global process of production created by capitalism itself points the members of the international working class to each other. But this process does spontaneous welds and bolts and glue those workers into a party that fights for their own historic interests.

Please, I beg of you, if you're publishing anything โ€“ especially a position paper, report, white paper, etc โ€“ include the date in an obvious, visible place. Ideally right there on the cover.

Stuff is moving fast. A report or a white paper that is not clearly marked with a publishing date is very close to useless โ€“ is it a year old, or a decade? Is it up to date? Is it not quoted anywhere because it's literally just out, or because it's considered crap?

Come on, people! Put dates on your shit!

I'm after a decent pocket compact camera, with at least a 1" sensor. It seems that cameras are out of favour unless you want to spend ยฃ3k. What I'd really like is a Canon G5X ii, but they've been discontinued. The only still available alternatives seem to be the Canon G7X iii, or the Sony RX100 vii. It seems the Sony is a bit fiddly, and the G7X doesn't have a viewfinder. The lead time for both is a couple of months.

Any suggestions? Is it worth risking trying to get hold of a G5X on eBay?

I donโ€™t think you will regret your choice. They are extremely pocketable cameras. The view finder does make a difference as the rear screen can be hard to see in bright sunlight. As for whether it will compete with the Pixel 8 Pro, Iโ€™d be interested to hear about that but doubt the Pixel Pro will beat it image wise - remember that for low light photos, phones use masses of processing. If you pixel peek, I think you will find the Sony outdoes the Pixel 8. (1/2)

The image shows a social media post from a page named "The Daddy Files," which has a verified checkmark next to its name. The post is in white text on a dark background and is timestamped 23 minutes ago. The post begins with the text: "I hear a lot of people saying 'Run the country like a private business.'" It continues with a critical view of this idea, stating: "Well, OK. Here it is, folks. This is the part where a soulless private equity firm takes ownership and cuts nearly every employee and every service down to just about nothing, while squeezing out the last drops of profit and then ultimately selling the real estate despite being nothing but a hollowed out shell of its former self." The post concludes with: "You wanted it? Well now you've got it." The overall tone of the post is critical and sarcastic, suggesting negative consequences of running a country like a private business.

Brazilโ€™s Supreme Court backed down and withdrew its proposal to open up Indigenous territories to mining and economic activities from a controversial bill that critics say violates the Constitution.

On the same day, the Federal Attorney Generalโ€™s Office presented a draft presidential decree also excluding mining activities on Indigenous territories but allowing tourism and other activities led by Indigenous communities.

Over many bedtime readings with my son, we just finished Haroun and the Sea of Stories by Salmon Rushdie. Tears were streaming down my face. Itโ€™s so beautiful.

Itโ€™s about a boy and his father. The father is a storyteller secretly fed stories by a literal sea of stories. One day, a genie turns off the pipe and he no longer has any stories to tell. They go on a fantastical adventure to save the sea of stories.

Rushdie wrote it for his son while in hiding during the 1989 fatwa against him.

The CBC's Evan Dyer talks about what it's like trying to cover Poillievre's campaign as the CPC bus tours the country and the party tightly controls questions from reporters.

"Today, in Trois-Riviรจres, we asked to be allotted a question. Party staffers said yes, so long as it was asked by my colleague Tom Parry. We responded that I would prefer to ask it. At that point the party took away our question and gave it to another outlet.

The difficulty of trying to keep up with a campaign that has its own chartered aircraft is a logistical problem that can be mitigated to some extent. But the extreme message control makes it all but impossible to bring the same level of accountability to the Poilievre campaign that other campaigns are subject to. It also protects the campaign from having to answer tough questions and is a marked departure from previous Conservative campaigns I have covered.โ€
