there's also the possibility they're lying and it's writing way less than 75% but they're still relying on it and wasting a bunch of time trying to coax the LLMs to work

Here's an alt-text description of the image:

This image shows a screenshot of a Twitter thread with three posts from different accounts. The first post, from an account named "kandice_martellaro," features a profile picture of a person with short dark hair. The post states, β€œIf you’re planning to watch that HBO Harry Potter series, I really hope you understand two things: 1. She pushed this reboot because the original cast have publicly supported the transgender community and she wants a β€˜do-over’ that doesn’t involve them. 2. Putting money into her pocket WILL directly harm transgender folks and specifically transgender kids. She uses her wealth to block bills that would protect trans youth. It’s different than just hate speech (which is bad enough).” Below this post is a reply from an account named "jk_rowling" with a profile picture of a person, stating, β€œSorry, but that was irresistible.” The final post is from an account named "tradingMaxiSL," displaying a profile picture of a person, reading, β€œWhat actor/actress instantly ruins a movie for you?” The posts each have corresponding numbers of likes, retweets, and replies indicated below them.

*put in online request for quotes to replace our water heater*
*get over a dozen emails asking me to call them*

The whole point of asking for ONLINE quotes was to get ballpark estimates WITHOUT having to talk to a half-dozen competing plumbers on the phone, people. πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

Every time I have driven a car in like 10 years my mind is boggled by how bad modern screen infotainment systems are at surfing FM radio. They pretty much universally got rid of the "scan" function. Why the fuck

Something is happening at Meta (Facebook).

If you participated in the No Kings protest and shared photos of it on any platform within Meta’s ecosystem (including Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, Threads, or WhatsApp) β€” or if you’ve spoken out against ICE, or followed or promoted individuals or groups that track ICE activity β€” your account has been placed in an internal user group called β€œ2383.”

I do not know the purpose of this group, and I have not observed any direct changes to anyone’s account as a result of being in it. However, a significant number of people have been internally assigned to user group "2383". πŸ€”

it is extremely funny to me that a literal trillion dollars funnelled into a cloud provider results in more sev0 / sev1 outages per year than you'd get with a hosting provider run by a polycule out of an apartment block in rural Germany.

@jonty truck full of disks has the highest bandwidth. Always has, always will. At that amount of data, you'd likely drive over at least the initial sync
in reply to Richard "RichiH" Hartmann

@RichiH @jonty

Remember Kermit? Back in the 80s, it's documentation said never underestimate the bandwidth of a station wagon (What's that Uncle Bill?) full of magnetic tape. I think high density was 1600bpi back then.

Be careful out there. They aren't there to *fix anything*.

From a former active duty and reserve(weekend warrior) I will say this:

1. They know for a fact that they can't do shit. They are not law enforcement (not that they won't try to do something).
2. They will pick on anyone who doesn't know their rights because they are feeling themselves and get to play army.
3. Y'all did the right thing and kept it moving.

According to ClearSky, which tracks Bluesky blocking stats, the White House account is blocked by around 91,000 accounts, while being followed by only 10,000. techcrunch.com/2025/10/19/the-…

Republicans have become **incredibly good** at announcing some sort of anger/outrage while also having some level of deniability. Take the 2024 election for example.

Leading up to the election: "The elections are rigged!! By the democrats!!! You'll see!! Don't believe if Trump loses!"

Immediately after Trump "wins": Well, you see, everything worked out the way we thought.

Once you notice the pattern, you cannot not see it.

Trump is literally destroying the White House.

After promising that his absurd $250M ballroom wouldn't interfere with the existing structure, he lied and is destroying the White House.

Wealth & income inequality is at record highs in America, but glad we're spending $250M on a vanity project.

in reply to Qasim Rashid, Esq.

It will cost more than $250 million , but probably not twice that amount: Trump is such an embarrassment that, after we are rid of him, they may decide to restore the building to its previous state because no one will want to remember that Trump ever held an elected office above or equal to town dog catcher.

going to be real fun when they have tuberculosis running loose up there again. Also, next pandemic (and there will be one), the legislature will have to repeal the law to allow for basic public health measures. This sort of nonsense sounds really good if you don’t know a goddamned thing about how bad it actually got in US hospitals during 2020-2022, and how close we were to stacking bodies in mass graves.

#AI investment by companies is currently projected by Gartner to top $1.5 TRILLION this year, 2 next. Where is that sort of revenue going to come from to pay it off?

Microsoft only pulls in $45 *billion* on office software, and they're the biggest player in the game. The math doesn't add up for this to be a tool for consumers.

Someone on LinkedIn pointed out that selling that data for surveillance is the MOST likely way that the bills get paid.

Keep this in mind before you use these tools.

I guess they put "AI" in Google Sheets now. It keeps suggesting that I sort and filter the sheet that I'm working on in different ways.

Motherfucker, I think I know what I want to do with the data I'm looking at. I don't need you to suggest random shit.

Clippy-tier piece of shit.

The image is a screenshot of a social media post, likely Twitter, with a dark blue background. At the top left is a circular profile picture of a person with dark hair, wearing a dark jacket. Below that is text arranged in three separate sections, each attributed to a different entity.

The first section, attributed to "Them", reads: "People are so lazy, there's jobs available everywhere." The second section, attributed to "Advertisement", reads: "How would you like to work for us? The job is six days a week and you'll still be poor." The final section, attributed to "The working class", simply states: "No". The post is attributed to a user named "Comrade Hammer" with the handle "[@]JoshWiniecke".

German Federal Office of Civil Protection publishes guide removing war as an 'unlikely' possibility

The Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance warned in its latest report that #war no longer seems as unlikely as it did a few years ago, as it recommends maintaining food supplies of three to ten days.

For the first time in 35 years, the Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK) is warning of war. The agency emphasises that #Germany is one of the safest countries, but a new guide has been published to provide advice in case of crisis.

GoFundMe has created 1.4 million "donation pages" for nonprofits *without their consent and without any prior warning or contact*. You can go to gofundme.com/s?nonprofits= to check if they've done this to your 501(c)3. See abc7news.com/post/gofundme-cre… for more details and some utter disingenuous self-serving bullshit from GoFundMe.

Costco quietly made a major benefit change - TheStreet

I think the most interesting thing in the article is the cash back offer on fuel, considering that EV charging is in there, something I haven't seen before, and I wonder if'n that means anything like Costco adding charging to its warehouses.

in reply to 🌴 Seph πŸ’ πŸ‘Ύ

Our local Costco is adding banks of chargers. But also is expanding its gas station...
in reply to 4d3fect

@4d3fect Much as the last one kinda sucks, its being realistic if'n my local Sams Club is to go by considering the lines and the chaos. The chargers though are news to me.

A screenshot of a social media post is presented. The post features a circular profile picture of a person with dark hair and a red background. Below the profile picture, the username "[@]IsicaLynn" is displayed, accompanied by a red checkmark icon. The post consists of two paragraphs of text.

The first paragraph reads: "I find that a lot of anti-socialist sentiment boils down to a basic belief that people are lazy and won’t do good in the world or work hard unless they are suffering." The second paragraph reads: β€œI believe the opposite. I think most people would do amazing things if they weren’t in dire straits constantly.”

If a device is recording you and everyone around you,

And is sharing all this data with a corporation outside of your control,

It is not a "smart" device,
It is a spying device.

At the very least, you are ethically required to not inflict this surveillance upon others without prior explicit consent.

#TechSurveillance #MassSurveillance #Privacy #Consent #RingDoorbell #MetaRayBan #SmartSpeakers

in reply to Em

everything 'smart' is actually a computer.
Smartphone is a computer that can phone, smart TV is a computer on which you can watch TV, smart car is a computer on which one's built a car, and so on.
in reply to hardtech.fts

@hardtech
You've miss the point. Thing is, you're both right but your post is dismissive, as if your truth negates the other. "Smart" devices that pull personal data, often without our knowledge, are unethical & we're all being opted in.

A group of people are standing on a grassy lawn, holding signs in a protest setting. Three people in the foreground are dressed as characters from β€œThe Wizard of Oz”: one is wearing a plaid shirt and a straw hat, one is fully covered in a brown bear costume, and one is wearing a silver metallic costume representing the Tin Man. Behind them, other people can be seen holding additional signs. The signs in the foreground read: β€œTRUMP Has No Brain”, β€œGOICE Has No Courage”, and a red heart-shaped sign. The scene appears to be outdoors on a sunny day, with foliage visible in the background.
