Madison County Board Chairman Slusser defends Fauci hanging post as 'rhetorical hyperbole'
Madison County Board Chairman Chris Slusser said Friday that a comment he made on Facebook calling for the โpublic hangingโ of Dr. Anthony Fauci was โrhetorical hyperbole.โ
Slusserโs comments were posted in the replies to a post that appears to have since been deleted. Slusser, from his personal account, made the comment around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
โHe should receive a public hanging,โ Slusser wrote of Fauci.
On Friday, Slusser pushed back against criticism of the post.
โAnyone with common sense knows the remark wasn't a literal call for public execution,โ Slusser wrote in a Facebook post. โIt was obvious rhetorical hyperbole โ the kind of exaggerated language people use every day.
