Not surprised that this is a cover

I mean Dwight Yoakam does like his covers, but this Elvis tune doesn't seem to get many covers, certainly nothing as big as this.

β™² @psych@diasp.org:
Reminder....
Diasp.org - "two weeks' notice".

Most who have been 'based' here have relocated, weeks/months ago, and it has been seamless.

For those hesitating, confused, or weighing some other platform entirely, it need not be any more difficult than picking/joining a new *pora instance/pod, copy/paste your bio if you like it, re-post your familiar avatar (if you want/makes it easy to be recognized), pick those interests / # tags, and re-add contacts, using all the info from "here" to easily find aspects, people, etc. Once set, that's it.
It will look exactly the same. Your new pod will send out a #newhere post which may bring some new contacts interested in your interests, plus remind ongoing contacts to re-add you at the new address. And done. Use this time to find/add those you've missed.

Thank you @David - for years & years of devotion, hassles, effort, etc. And generosity. Enjoy your new spaces!

Checks his crypto...

...down to $48, such a shame.

For those who don't know, I hold a little bit of crypto that comes with a bit of a story. A few years back, when the hype was high, I decided to invest $100 in crypto for shits 'n giggles. I mean I could afford to lose that money, so why not? Few months later it hit $225, so I cashed out my original investment, and left the interest to see what would happen. Since then it's been as low as $16, got up to I think around $73 or so, and now it's at $48.

Seeing as how it was the interest, ain't my money, and I don't really care what happens, I mean if'n it gets over $200 I'll cash out some maybe, but who knows, I never gamble what I can't afford to lose, so just like my stocks, small investments that don't matter, but who knows, maybe one day I'll wake up rich.

Former Scottish Labour MSP quits with furious attack on Keir Starmer

A former Scottish Labour MSP has resigned from the party after 35 years following the UK Government’s swingeing cuts to #disability #benefits

On Tuesday, Work and Pensions Secretary Liz #Kendall said that the #Labour Government would cut Personal Independence Payments (PIP) by Β£5 billion per year by 2030, leading to widespread condemnation from charities.

Neil Findlay, who represented #Labour at Holyrood for a decade until 2021, said in a furious letter to Prime Minister Keir #Starmer that he was β€œbetraying Labour's proud history and lay[ing] waste to any claim of moral principle”.

Resigning his membership, Findlay said: β€œI can no longer remain a member [of] a party that lied to the British people at the last election and with regularity betrays the people who voted for it.

Broke a mini goal

So, with yesterday's addition to covers month, I finally broke a mini-goal. Honestly I'm surprised it took this long, but I had been trying both to repeat no songs and repeat no artists. I suppose I could split hairs on yesterday, it was the second appearance of Willy Nelson, however this time he was with Merle Haggard, last time he was with Paul Simon, so technically the artists are different, but that's really splitting hairs.

There are artists whose covers I won't be sharing, like the Cleverlys, I mean their music is great, should hear their cover of Beck's Loser, it's great, but they do these covers only because it's funny, fundamentally they're a comedy band, and I prefer serious attempts when covering a song. I'm also skipping Puddles and Post Modern Jukebox, since as good as they are, they're kinda specialized I guess? Honestly not sure about those two, my opinion might change.

So, if'n you haven't been keeping up with the #music I've been sharing, there's two ways to do so, my #YouTube playlist, or by going directly to my cover songs posts.

Blame Willie's Roadhouse on SXM

I mean they keep finding me originals or covers I've never heard of, and when looking into it, sometimes I find surprising things, like the fact that this, what I would call the definitive version of the song, is a cover.

youtu.be/UoKvUYbGu7A

Apparently it was originally written by Townes Van Zandt and released on his 1972 album, and over by Emmylou Harris, the version I was introduced to today, and others, with this version obviously being the best known. And technically it's not about Pancho Villa, that's just a coincidence according to Townes, in fact the original spelling was Poncho and Lefty, with different printings of the Nelson & Haggard version having different spellings, sometimes with differences between the record, record sleeve and liner notes.
