In the US it's divided by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, media before that can be backed up for personal use, but not the stuff that came after, ie MP3 and DVD, not sure what else.
, though that sometimes requires finding a blog that isn't blocked from thumbnailing that's shared it. Wonder if'n that's a Diaspora thing, or if'n it happens on Mastodon as well. I'd check, but looks like the Diaspora instance I was on (ragesoss.com) is gone, so I'll have to set up a few alt accounts for checking things. Really should have a Mastodon as a back up any how.
