Yikes, just did my annual follower cleanup, deleting (block/unblock) any account that's had zero activity in the last year. Almost 15% of my followers. Quite a bit of churn on the Fediverse.

Unsurprisingly, a high number of people who:
* Were from photo sharing sites
* Only made a dozen posts then abandoned Mastodon
* Were old men (hope they're okay)
* Had accounts with nothing but "glamour shots" being posted

I think a lot of folks just don't get Mastodon. When it's not a clone of Twitter or Instagram or BlueSky, they disappear.

@Maria Langer | 📝🛥️💎 @Eric Phelps There's also the possibility that they moved to a new account here on the Fedi that better fits them, for example I rarely do much with this account any more as I've moved to a semi-temporary #Wafrn account (permanently until I find someone offering hosted Wafrn instances)

@vextaur @mlanger I did see about a half dozen moved accounts. Including one that had moved three times in the last year. At least they're well-labeled.
