I wanna know why there's no alternatives. Sure, the amount of credit card processors is thing, but American Express and Discover are still out there, they could easily pick up the slack. What about using debit, there's many companies processing those, all but ensuring that someone will allow it. And finally they're are consumer finance companies like Synchrony who could easily offer a solution.
