President Donald Trump Has Apparently Given Kei Cars the Green Light for the U.S.A.

Huh, we'll see if'n anything comes of this, Trump does have a habit of saying non-vetted things, but...

if this is true, then it will be the second of two things. He’s actually done during both of his presidencies that I like, and think actually did give benefit to the country. But this is Donald Trump, so it could be walked back in an instant either by him or by one of his cronies.

@Xoa Gray @Tiki Bunny Imports πŸΉπŸ‡πŸ›»πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ Yeah, that's what I'm thinking, but it'd be cool to see it happen, especially with the push back coming from a quasi governmental agency that's been leading to them getting banned.

yeah same here. I would love to see them made just across-the-board legal. I’ve wanted one for years specifically a Subaru Sambar.

@Xoa Gray @Tiki Bunny Imports πŸΉπŸ‡πŸ›»πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ I don't think we'll see that, but there's a lot to do, after all I do believe the law banning them wasn't targeted at them, but more mainstream vehicles that were being imported, so exceptions could be made for them, from decreasing the wait time on importing them, kneecapping the group that's trying to ban them, simplifying the import, creating a special classification for them and maybe city cars, hard to say, Americanized versions definitely won't happen though.

Oh yeah, there's a lot of things that could be done. But the American auto industry lobbyists are spending millions to do everything they can to make sure it doesn't. That's where the real fight is right now.

@Xoa Gray @Tiki Bunny Imports πŸΉπŸ‡πŸ›»πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ I find it hard to imagine American car company manufacturers worried about these, despite the increased interest, they wouldn't likely offer much competition as they're not a segment anyone operates in here. Now for side by side and UTV manufacturers, a definite threat.

worthless drek. Kei cars as imports would destroy the US automakers. Domestic ones would suck and be ibscenely expensive so... Safe to ignore.
