We weren't fooled when we read the card in the image. We just learned, once again, why proofreading is so important, and why so-called "memes" suck so badly.
When we read, we don't read letter-by-letter or even word by word. That's too slow. We did that when we first learned to read, but we had to change that pretty soon in order to get all our reading done in a reasonable amount of time.
Fascinating, I'm surprised that I was surprised by this and wonder what the science behind that is, as I do proofreading as I seem to naturally notice mistakes in text, I don't even have to read it, just let my eyes run over it and I'll often find mistakes like this, but this really threw me, so I'm either really tired, or something about it got past my usual sense for mistakes.
