For push notifications, we recommend #SunUp. The #Holos beta-14 version fixes an issue we had with the #UnifiedPush library. Remember to re-register if you're not receiving push notifications.

@Stomata
This looks like an ID of someone you're following. We had this issue with Mastodon and new accounts that use numeric IDs. But our fix isn't clean and alphanumeric IDs slip through the cracks. This is bookmarked for a fix.

should this setting be findable via "Search settings..."? "Uni" yields no results

@f_g
We need to add more search keywords, especially for unifiedpush

NTFY works well, but the free ntfy.sh service has rate limits. For unlimited notifications, you can either self-host NTFY or use SunUp, which leverages Mozilla's Push Service (same as Firefox) without rate limits.

@Holos Social Interesting, any idea what the rate limit is? Any other advantages to SunUp? I'm lazy about changing unless the change has a distinct advantage, and since I don't use social media much on my phone or tablet, I'm not sure the rate limit would matter

@capitan
If rate limits don't bother you, there's no reason to change! NTFY works perfectly fine for most use cases.
With Holos specifically though, SunUp handles more than just notifications, it also delivers ActivityPub activities like delete requests, follow accepts, etc. But if you're a light user, NTFY's free tier should be more than enough.
