This State Wants Drivers To Start Paying By The Mile As EV Popularity Climbs

Honestly I'm not against charge by mile, so long as it doesn't require installing a tracking device, here in Missouri we already have a mileage inspection for vehicles brought in from out of state, along with the mileage being verified every time the car is inspected. Frankly I think they should just eliminate gas taxes, and charge everyone based on mileage with the rate based on the weight of the vehicle.

Well, if the revenue to government from petrol and diesel vehicle falls, it will have to make it up in other ways and so it's inevitable. It's being phased in over the next couple of years.

@Khurram Wadee True. Really I think its fairer than the fuel tax, the only question is how they collect the info, install a tracking device on your vehicle? Do annual inspection? Self reporting?

@Khurram Wadee Yep, its just the means used, I don't want a tracking device in my vehicle, and most if not all states already have the means to annual inspect the mileage on the vehicle, so no need for tracking.
