What Is One-Pedal Driving And Why Is China Banning It?
I find these issues weird, I compare regenerative braking to engine braking, there are differences, but if you're used to the latter, the former is fairly easy to get used to.

Switching between pedals that do opposite things always comes at a risk of getting confused or physically blocked and pressing down on the wrong pedal.
And pedals are risky anyway due to the risk of something sliding underneath the pedal.
We could put all the controls in the steering bar ... twist throttle and brake levers, maybe.
