never thought about it before, but now I feel like this should be the norm in Fediverse. Perhaps even warning the users about being on an not well maintained instance.

@Feyter @dansup Yeah, you don't think about it, but I think it was #feditips recently had a post about the Pawoo family where the admin hasn't been seen in like 2 years, ditto for mods, so you can imagine what problems open registration on an instance can cause
