@LillyLyle/Count Melancholia @internetarchive I'm not sure that counts with these or the Hardy Boys, considering how long they were in (are?) in print, I remember these being in the bookstores when I was a kid in the 80s.

As I recall, both Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew stories would be updated periodically to remain relevant (e.g., the type of dancing being done, clothing descriptions, cars and other tech). I would assume that copyright for those later revisions remains in place, just the original 1930 text is now in the public domain.
