"Microsoft and Google keep the energy consumption of their Dutch data centers secret, despite European reporting obligations. The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland, RVO) received blank forms or no data at all. The Dutch newspaper NRC reports that the government has no legal means to request the actual figures."

Tesla revamped Semi spotted, insane 1.2 MW charging video releases

I doubt it'll hit this frequently, but I gotta admit to being impressed, I still don't think electric semi's are really going to work, at least for long haul work, but this is impressive and a step towards it.

Would be great if any standard truck cab could bolt onto the chassis.

But an ignorant billionaire dictated the absurd design

@diana πŸ³οΈβ€βš§οΈπŸ¦‹ I hear there is some good about it, but yeah, usual Tesla BS, but its not like they're the only show out there, Freightliner has been electrifying, and I don't think they're the only one.

Almost forgot...

This is my tradition to share this every year, the only New Year's song I know, though I can't imagine one better than this.

And now its 2026

And I expect it'll be a better one, I'll prolly jinx m'self if'n I claim it can't get worse, but after a year where my husband died less than a month after my birthday, and two or so months later the room mate had to put his cat down, the cat we took care of because she didn't like him..

Yeah, its been a hell of a year. Its not that there can't be other losses, there will be at some point in the future, but with older family members, its sorta expected that you'll outlive them, that's just life, but when they're only 5 or so years older? Yeah, I was starting to rough out plans for our retirement, with an expectation of at least another decade together, hopefully two.

So what's the plan this year?

As someone wisely said, do I look like I have a plan?
Ok, seriously, not much, clear this place out, fix it up (anyone know a good contractor in #stl ?) a little bit, and downsize, the latter likely resulting in me moving out of state, because Republican states suck, but not sure where I'm going, likely Illinois, but Maryland and Pennsylvania are also possibles. First step of clearing this place out was done yesterday, rented two tables at the Sunset Hills community center for the first three flea markets, March, April and May, and while I'll still be selling stuff before that, that'll be when I really get things going.

Speaking of selling, anyone need any clothing?

Any how, that's about all, other than maybe building an electric kei van, finally found an engine small enough. Yes, small enough, there's something you never here with an engine swap.

And now, onwards with #today , grocery shopping and... Pack a few more things up for shipping.

Sounds like your year was like mine. I'm struggling a bit with the cleaning out the house chore. Seems I balk when it comes to getting rid of my wife's clothes.

I want to know what's up with electric charging in Missouri

Its bad enough that we have very few chargers here, but the weird part is we're not getting any new. Seriously, was just checking a site showing new chargers in the area or coming, EVGo has four coming in, all on the Illinois side, on the Missouri side, the good news is we're getting three Ionna stations... The bad news is that two of them I know as replacements for current stations, a Francis energy at Wally's, and the chargers at Schnucks in Warrenton. I'd really like to know why we're not getting chargers, even companies like Circle K who has there own charging network, and is expanding here (I know of three new stations coming in), isn't installing any chargers at the new or existing stations. Ditto for WalMart who's building their own network.

DHS says REAL ID is too unreliable to confirm U.S. citizenship

Honestly I might not be against a central database considering my experience with the current system, where my AZ driver's license got suspended because my non-existent NJ driver's license got suspended. How does that work? The states all share data about licenses, but there's no oversight on the accuracy, got a problem, go deal with the agency that screwed up. At least with a central database, you only have one agency to deal with, and the local branch can fix it without you having to travel across the country to sort things out.

Well, it was up to the state to follow the national requirements. The documents that I was required to provide are the basic citizenship documents. Birth certificate, passport, proof of residence. That should be the minimum in all states. There is no need for a "national database" of citizens other than the ones that already exist, IRS, SS for instance.
in reply to Mark Wollschlager

@Mark Wollschlager Thing is, from my experience I think there already is one, I can't imagine each state contacting the other 49 for updates, but who runs it? If there's a mistake who do you contact? Who's accountable for that database? In my experience, no one, something that needs to change. Sure, I'd rather there wasn't one at all, but they do need to keep track of who's licensed where and what points they have left... I mean how many points on their license.
