I'm taking a break from Loops to fix some recent federation issues in @pixelfed

While I'm at it, I'm also fixing some old bugs like proper cache invalidation in Notifications, improved support for libvips and other file formats, and more!

Shoutout to @shlee for shipping a ton of bug fixes too, we make a great team ❤️

Stay tuned, we'll be tagging a new release this weekend with a ton of federation + UI/UX fixes

takes a look at this platform, I don't know how you create the apps, but it is open source and multi-platform. From what I've seen, you build the separate Android and iOS apps, it would save you time.

@celinho that is TikTok's answer to React Native (which we currently use), the problem with Lynx is that it doesn't have the rich and mature ecosystem of 3rd party packages like React Native does

@dansup @pixelfed Out of curiosity, is it possible to change the UI entirely? I had a discussion elsewhere about how silly it is sites like Deviant Art, SoFurry, ArtUntamed, etc offer basically the same thing, but each uses custom software and a Federated alternative would be nice, and have been curious if'n Pixelfed could be modified like that.

how will the folks who were impacted by the federation issues be handled? Automatically?

Is there anything we need to do?

As I said before - my account is stuck - but the account it was migrating to no longer exists because we didn’t know where the problem was.

When the migration is processed it should fail gracefully and return my original account back to normal, yes?

This whole process has been a hassle and it’s been months.

will this address migration out of Pixelfed.social and fix the existing accounts that are stuck in a non migrated / broken state?
