I bought a suit when I was 18. It got worn 6 times over the next 3 years, then I gave it away.
Only once was it enjoyable - the occasion of a Geology Department Xmas meal at a posh hotel (by Leicester standards). I amazed people as the year before, I'd worn a t-shirt and patched up jeans. On both occasions though I wore some totally battered Green Flash shoes. David Attenborough was present as our Honorary Geology Society President. He was more amused by my attire than my fellow students. He was very down to Earth to have a drink and chat with:)
The suit never made me feel more intelligent
