Whoever came up with this marketing scheme must have gone through a really cheap course to monetize an idea.

Does the trick in a country where all values are measured by money.

And in a country where people are having to pinch pennies because the billionaires need to pay no taxes.
in reply to Katherine Bond

And there has been talk of ceasing to mint pennies for years now because of the expense.
in reply to Katherine Bond

I read that. Can’t remember the last time I needed a penny.

We frequently give exact change to cashiers. Frequently, they are stunned.
in reply to Katherine Bond

You stun them with exact change? Precisely how do you strike them with it?
in reply to Katherine Bond

Change first, bills second. I don't even pull out a bill at first so they won't be able to anticipate what ones I may use.

In California, due to sales tax, you often need a penny or more, that is if you are paying in cash. The use of a debit or credit card eliminates the need for pennies. I have a small dish full of them!! I originally started the dish of pennies when the grandkids were little but kept it up longer than necessary!! They are no longer little & at least two of them have more money than I do!!!

I wonder if pennys like the wheat penny are still valuable to collectors.
