The Eisenhower Lock and the Snell Lock are the two American locks located along the Wiley-Dondero Canal in Massena.
Any ship traveling completely between the Atlantic Ocean/Montreal and Lake Ontario has to transit these two locks to navigate past the Moses-Saunders Power Dam and the Long Sault Rapids.
I wonder: at what point does the Seaway transition from being an international passage (the Gulf of St. Lawrence) to being basically a big river in Canada (the St. Lawrence River). At that point, every ship is within Canada proper.

in reply to Mark Wollschlager • • •Apparently not. The map clearly shows that the canal is not at the entrance to the Great Lakes, but between Lake Ontario and Lake Erie.
