idk how far this escalation against fentanyl will go, but there are only bad outcomes if fentanyl stops being the go-to drug for many types of pain in the hospital.
Dilaudid is a more dangerous medicine but would be the obvious swap, oral pain pills have severe limitations, and a fentanyl/versed combo is perhaps the best way to avoid the much more dangerous anesthesia drugs for many procedures.
