Without wishing to undermine the wave of delight, joy and relief at the results of the US midterm elections, the next few months of US politics have the potential to be the most dangerous since The Reconstruction and the outcomes just as divorced from the initial promise. There will be a reaction to these elections just as wild an woolly as the reaction to the election of Obama, and this time the world needs Progressive USA to anticipate and forestall it rather than sit back and think the job is done.

The energy put into getting a Democrat landslide now needs to be directed at making sure the Democrats don't get too comfortable. They need to be busy. They need to be blocking excesses, holding to account, holding feet to the fire if need be, and they need to be ferreting out every breach, every loophole, every accommodation made (by both parties) that enabled Trump's hold on the Republican Party and the country.

The hard work starts now.
