Slouching towards Bethlehem to be born...Hat's off, WB Yeats.

The young man who shot and killed Kirk will be totally demonized, and used. Of course, it's a tragedy. He was raised in a bizarre home of MAGA, Gun Nut, Mormon Republicans. His father turned him in to authorities. While growing up, his father taught him how to expertly use an old hunting rifle. And in one, perfectly placed shot, at a distance, he brought down Kirk.

@Pedro Subrosa That's an Amazing poem as are many of his others!

The Second Coming
By William Butler Yeats

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: somewhere in sands of the desert
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.
The darkness drops again; but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

You always hope this poem doesn’t have applicability to your times.

@Katherine Bond *I personally believe Earth has 1,000 more years - and then, that's the end of it.
KING JAMES John 2:18-27
18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.

These lines are also awful apt these days.

The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.
