Not Quite Back Yet

This is my first time downstairs for a while now. I guess I'm doing OK, but geez...

I see that this site will be shutting down in May. I think I'll ride it down and end my social media days there. I've been posting for a lot of years and I'm getting tired.

That was my first reaction as well... just let it go.... we'll see...
in reply to Whuffo

I hope you move to another pod. It's not that much work!
in reply to Whuffo

I’m riding diaspora til the wheels fall off. I did switch to diasporasocial.net. Not hard at all.

I'd hate to lose your insight but I get the vagabond fatigue.

Andrew has this pod marked as closed but seems to be offering invites to checkin folks who need a landing spot. It's kinda idiot-proof.
s/ idiot 🙋‍♀️

Just a reminder y'all, you can be on both diaspora and activitypub through Friendica or I think Hubzilla. Could never leave Friendica for mastodon, too many diaspora folks I'd lose.

I don't think so. My health is deteriorating and I've been posting since the early days of Google Plus. Others can pick up my work and I'll take it easy.

Can't put a "like" on this Whoffo

I'm trying. Spent the day at the hospital today, stretch this and that and a turn on the rack. They're stepping up the stretching exercises and the weight applied to stretching me out. Discovered that my bad arm quit hurting when I was stretched, which indicates that the arm isn't bad, it's just another damned pinched nerve.

When you say going to the "hospital" I think of something entirely different. You've lived here, so you know what I mean. Seems like your hospitals there actually help.
in reply to Whuffo

@Whuffo. Spent some time in physical therapy last winter, and I’m doing better this winter because of it. Hope things can be made better for you. :-)
in reply to Whuffo

Whuffo, I've had some sciatica bouts. Nasty situation. I had one physical therapist go through the stretching routines, but I concluded they really did not know what they are doing. Instead i got into exercise, circuit training, and zumba dance exercise for a year or two. I swear that healed most of it. Still have to be careful but wow what a difference exercise makes. I have no idea if this applies to you, but figured i should at least mention it. Just yesterday there were several reports about how exercise is critical for us. Matches my experience. Best of luck.

Whuffo, the other thing i've learned, and you may have too, is that when the pain and inflammation are extreme you should not exercise much. So, the trick is to do therapy in between periods of extreme inflammation. My original therapist didn't seem to understand that, and had me doing routines too early in the inflammation phase, which tended to prolong the inflammation.

Yes, our hospitals are quite different here. They don't make money from the patients, so they give the best care they can. Remember that I'm very old, so Zumba and such are not an option. I get my exercise by climbing stairs here.

I'm told I don't look old, either. But geez, this old body can't even walk in a straight line for very far.
