My ducks...

So, I got my ducks in a row... In order... On order... Well, received them today.

These are for my participation in the Teal Pumpkin Project, something I found out about like 8 years ago, and have participated in every year since then. While I've offered a number of non-food items in the past, last year was the first year I did ducks when I found out you could buy a 30 count box of them. They were popular with the kids, we offered pick 2 ducks or get 4 pieces or so of candy, and most kids picked ducks. While 30 was enough last year, it was close, so I bought 100 this year.

Definitely not allowing them to choose, can you imagine how long that would take? But yeah, two ducks or candy once again.

The image shows a cardboard box with a warning label on top, partially open and spilling out a large plastic bag filled with colorful rubber duck toys. The toys are in various colors, including yellow, pink, green, blue, and white, and feature different designs such as ducks, a soccer ball, and other animal shapes. The bag is transparent, allowing a clear view of the toys inside. The box is placed on a white marble countertop, with a glimpse of a wooden floor and kitchen containers in the background. The warning label on the box reads "WARNING" and includes text about the risk of suffocation, emphasizing the importance of keeping small parts away from children.

That is a big church here. It's good to know the service times and steer clear cause traffic is brutal.

Which political parties support public ownership?

  • Do you want an #NHS that works for patients not profit?
  • Water in public hands and an end to sewage in your rivers and seas?
  • No more #profiteering from your energy bills?
  • Do you think public transport and the Royal Mail should be publicly owned?

If you've answered yes to these questions, you're in the majority. But politicians are NOT listening

You can find out below with our easy overview of where the main political parties stand on public ownership (in order of how many votes they received in the 2024 election).

The ratings are based on a) what the political party says about public ownership, b) what it does when in power and c) the direction of travel - is it sticking with the status quo of privatisation? Or is it open to and moving towards running public services for people not profit?

The image is a political cartoon depicting a scene with a tank labeled "National Guard Tour" moving along a road. The tank is headed towards Chicago and Memphis, with directional signs pointing to these cities. In the foreground, a man lies on the ground, holding two signs that read "Small Govt" and "States' Rights." He is wearing a yellow T-shirt with the text "Don't Tread on Me" and a Gadsden flag emblem. The man's expression is defiant, and he is wearing a red cap. The tank's tracks are visible, and the road is marked with directional signs pointing to Los Angeles (LA) and Washington D.C. (D.C.). The cartoon appears to be commenting on the National Guard's role and the political stance of the man, who represents those advocating for limited federal government intervention and state sovereignty.

The image shows a man walking across a large indoor arena, carrying a large wooden cross with wheels attached to it. The cross is being wheeled, as indicated by the visible wheel on one of the cross's beams. The man is dressed in a dark suit and is walking on a yellow line on the floor. The arena is filled with spectators, and banners and advertisements are visible in the background, including one for the Arizona Cardinals and another for Charlie Kirk. The image is accompanied by a caption from Feminist News, which uses the image as a metaphor for the Republican Party, suggesting that it is a facade or a "smoke and mirrors" situation.

The image shows a social media post with a black background and white text. The post is from a user named "b.sharise," as indicated by the profile picture and username at the top. The text of the post reads: "Not enough Americans equate 100 years of Jim Crow Laws with fascism and that bothers me. Utilizing imagery of Anne Frank and the gestapo instead of lynchings, forced sterilizations (the Mississippi Appendectomies), internment camps, and sun down towns adds an unnecessary layer of distance. It incorrectly asserts that fascism is this foreign thing that the US has never known, much less allowed. That could not be farther from the truth." The post discusses the importance of recognizing the historical injustices in the United States, such as Jim Crow Laws, lynching, forced sterilizations, internment camps, and sun down towns, and how comparing them to fascism can create a false narrative about the nature of these injustices.

The image shows a Facebook post by Sheila Toll, dated 2 September, at 12:14. The post is about a patient named Julie, a post-menopausal woman who came in for a health examination. Sheila, a family doctor, asked Julie about any vaginal bleeding, which Julie initially denied but then mentioned a few months of bleeding. Sheila, following medical protocol, ordered a pelvic ultrasound, which confirmed cancer of the uterus. Julie underwent a hysterectomy and radiation therapy and is now cancer-free. The post highlights the importance of recognizing vaginal bleeding after menopause as a potential warning sign. The post ends with Julie sharing her experience with friends, revealing that none of them knew about this risk. The post includes a profile picture of Sheila Toll and a blue house icon at the bottom, indicating the home tab.

The image is a screenshot of a Facebook post by Sheila Toll, dated 2 September. The post is about Julie, who experienced a return of her period after menopause, which was later confirmed to be a symptom of cancer of the uterus. Julie underwent a hysterectomy and radiation therapy and is now cancer-free. The post highlights that Julie was surprised by Sheila's concern, as the symptoms had not recurred for many months. Julie emphasized the importance of recognizing this symptom as a potential danger signal and shared that out of 20 women she spoke to, none knew this was abnormal. Sheila has since followed Julie's advice and is now sharing this information with a wider audience. The post concludes with a message urging post-menopausal women to seek medical attention if they experience a return of their period or vaginal bleeding. The post includes a "Like" and "Share" button at the bottom, and the Facebook interface is visible, including the home, video, shop, and notification icons.
