Diaspora*:How do I find and publish an old account?

First I like to search trough people who re-share a lot like @N. E. Felibata πŸ‘½. πŸ˜‰
There I'm able to find @OLD account of @HUartsound3 and @even the older one.
Before I publish, I remove selected part of the link that's unique for my pod, so link becomes universal for all pods.

Remove blue part to make link universal

Now, everyone is able to re-share ancient messages.

Tablet fail...

Well, not fail per se, just be a piece of garbage.

I think I mentioned that I was planning on ordering a Boox Go7 which is an Android e-reader, which is to say its basically an Android tablet just with an e-reader launcher installed and an e-ink screen.

That's it laying on my Lenovo 11in tablet. Umm, I would've expected a 7 inch tablet to be around half the size of the 11, but oK. Problems started out of the box, the thing was thin, light, and felt more like a toy. Initial start up was glacially slow.

And things basically went downhill from there.
Turn it off on the launcher screen? It not only closes all open apps, but it also defaults apps back to standard, ie FireFox stops being my default browser, and the factory installed browser takes over. Oh, and FireFox now launches all web pages in desktop mode which is much smaller print and harder to read.

Then there's the random glitches, like my keyboard having no visible space bar, the graphics on my solitaire game giving me a headache, or my RAR program basically not having any interface.

Ummm, I hope this isn't an example of what to expect with Android e-ink devices.

Oh, and I already got the replacement, no surprise, but I did what I should've done in the first place, just grabbed a Lenovo 8 inch tablet. A more classic design than my 11's (I have two, the old and the newer one), but its about the right size, and I expect it'll be typical Lenovo, won't knock your socks off, but it'll do the job at a very reasonable price, in this case, $99 on sale. Funny thing, if I picked it up today from Best Buy via Lenovo's website, I got an extra $10, so I guess I got rewarded for being impatient?

Honestly, when was the last time we heard from her or her department? Is it time for a welfare check?

Hey everyone, I’m #newhere. I’m interested in #atheism, #photography, #science, and #skepticism
I have a long journey in diaspora.

Came to diaspora when G+ closed years ago, then the instance closed and I moved to diasporasocial, net
That server was disconnected days ago. All of this week it shows as Error 500, with no other information, and no heads up from the admins. A friend here suggested I join. Now I have to figure out how to regain content, and contacts.

I have been a photographer (never a professional) for over 40 years. Now retired from a long career in IT, am devoting most of my time to travel and photography.

Will post more when I regain contacts, and figure out how to connect in diaspora again.

Cold today in #stl , likely to be equally as cold #tomorrow , so I decided to cancle my shift, frankly I've made enough for the week. Well, more or less, goal is $700, with a min of $500. Last week we made a bit over $200, that's it because I took off because of the weather, so making $6xx this week is a bit of a shortage, but not bad, and I don't _have_ to work as hard as I do.

Oh, LOL! My mistake. Definitely looks exactly like a uke, though. Can't imagine what else it would be. Anyway, thanks for posting. It's a fun song.
in reply to paul_kelly

@paul_kelly Could be a guiatarlele (didn't make it up, but might've spelled it wrong) which is basically a cross between a guitar and a ukelele, and there's also a banjolele, which is a cross between a banjo and a ukelele, but that looks much different.

Previously on diasporasocial, which seems to have disappeared without warning. Before that on diasp.eu, which disappeared with plenty of warning. Maybe Glass Wings will stay around a while...!

#LGBTQ #southafrica

If you were born after 1994 in South Africa, it’s easy to forget that being gay used to be a crime. πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆπŸš« While the racism of #apartheid is well-documented, the regime's extreme homophobia is often overlooked.

Under the National Party, it wasn't just "frowned upon", it was illegal and severely punished. Police raided homes, meeting others were unsafe, and the military treated homosexuality as a sickness to be "cured" through torture.

The Horror of the "Aversion Project"

This is the darkest chapter of gay history in South Africa. Since all white males were conscripted into the military or South African Defense Force (SADF), gay men could not escape the state's grip. The SADF viewed homosexuality as a "sickness" that weakened the army.

Gay conscripts were often sent to Ward 22 at 1 Military Hospital in Pretoria. "Curing" homosexuality under the direction of psychiatrists like Dr. Aubrey Levin, gay soldiers were subjected to electric shock therapy. They were shown homoerotic images and shocked until they associated same-sex attraction with pain.

When shock therapy failed, some men were chemically castrated.

And then there was forced sex changes: Perhaps most shockingly, it is estimated that up to 900 gay men (mostly young conscripts aged 16–24) were coerced into gender reassignment surgery to "turn" them into women, because the regime’s logic was that it was better to be a woman than a gay man. They were often then discharged with no support.

From Darkness to Light

While the old regime was using science and violence to try and erase queer identity, a fight for their existence was beginning in the most unlikely place: a prison cell.

The reason South Africa have one of the most progressive Constitutions in the world today isn't an accident. It’s because of a man named Simon Nkoli.

When arrested for treason against the apartheid state, he refused to hide who he was. He famously did the unthinkable, he came out and told his fellow activists in prison:

"I am black and I am gay. I cannot separate the two parts of me... So when I fight for my freedom I must fight against both oppressors."

His bravery forced the liberation movements to recognise that you cannot fight for freedom while discriminating against your own. Because of him, South Africa became the first country in the world to write #lgbtq rights into its Constitution. πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦πŸ“œ

Never forget Simon.
