Bluesky Corporation have just started hosting and verified the US agency ICE:

bsky.app/profile/icegov.bsky.s…

In other words, Bluesky are collaborating with racist violent thugs and murderers.

(Bluesky Corporation were already hosting the White House (bsky.app/profile/whitehouse-47…), the Department of War (bsky.app/profile/deptofwar.bsk…), JD Vance (bsky.app/profile/jd-vance-1.bs…), Homeland Security (bsky.app/profile/homelandgov.b…) etc. This is a long-term collaboration with Trump admin.)

(via mstdn.social/@Grutjes/11590768… )

Wow. Bluesky has just welcomed and verified ICE.

For anyone still thinking Bsky is a real alternative to Twitter: No, it's not.

Mastodon is. Bsky is just X at its infancy.

I can't remember who the first domino was, but it was certainly someone pro fash/trump, and trust and safety (the head of whom i'd already lost hope/respect for due to their behaviour on the platform), just shrugged and said "Hey, it'll make us bigger, i see that as a win!" (paraphrased), but that's when i burned my bluesky presence. it's never too late to walk away from a platform, especially pro-fash ones.

@avatastic

Bluesky don't seem to care about little people, they just want to make themselves big people.

in reply to Fedi.Tips

Props to BS for supporting free speech on some level. I hope to see them keep the trend up!
in reply to Fedi.Tips

I gave Bluesky so many chances, I was hopeful communities like Blacksky would flourish and push decentralization, but damn, it continually feels like a leftist honeypot there, just the successor of Twitter. Stuff like this, I worry Fedi is next for enshittifcation if servers like mastodon.social keep growing unchecked.
in reply to Fedi.Tips

Not that surprising, sadly. Bsky was always going to go this way. As a centralized for-profit platform, they really had little choice. Bsky was never more than "Xitter with fewer Nazis" anyway.
in reply to Fedi.Tips

Cancelled my BlueSky account last year. It wasn't my space. That's why I'm here - and happy!
in reply to Fedi.Tips

they had some bigot on team, and kept silence about it.
That was when I deleted my account there. And it seems it was just a start...

Bluesky Corporation vient de commencer à héberger et à vérifier l'agence américaine ICE :

bsky.app/profile/icegov.bsky.s…

Quite appropriately, this is the interstitial they show me when visiting the ICE profile. Would you like me to share fine grained location data as well?

If you go to @bsky.brid.gy@bsky.brid.gy and click ... and then "Block domain" that should block all bridged accounts from your feeds.

If you have trouble going to the account I mentioned, try going to mastodon.social/@bsky.brid.gy@… when you're logged into your server's website.

thanks, that seems to have worked, fingers crossed I don't see anything from them anymore...👍
in reply to Fedi.Tips

b'sky is an alternative to twitter if you're a closet nazi...
in reply to Fedi.Tips

I know its mean but i really love the feeling when I told everyone before something happens.

Usually its for years that i tell people and they're usually increasingly mean and arrogant. Sometimes they're even outright sadistic.

Thats why today, i dont have any empathy left for people who have shat on others for years for them asking them to do the right thing. Just reap what you've sown.

And here's another one: please stop shitting on socialists in the fedi. We are right, always.

in reply to Fedi.Tips

Mixed feelings here. This is more nuanced that Twitter. I left that because of Musk's hypocrisy more than his allowing junk on the platform, but I'm a free speech absolutist. I'll be watching my bsky account to see if I notice a change. Does moderation and tone bend in favor of any one side?
in reply to Fedi.Tips

"long term collaberation" is a bit dramatic IMO, they just signed up. I doubt there was much communication on the subject.
in reply to Drew Mochak

They didn't just sign up, Bluesky is hosting them and verified them.

Bluesky does ban accounts, they could have banned ICE, and/or refused to host ICE, and/or refused to verify them. Instead they rolled out the red carpet.

They also emailed Fox News to tell them JD Vance was welcome on the platform:

"We welcome the Vice President to the conversation on Bluesky," the company told Fox News Digital in an email response"

Yup, just going to continue sticking to Mastodon. I will probably stop bridging my posts to bsky since they insist on welcoming the people who support the systematic destruction of my community. Maybe we can at least reclaim some of the features that ATP implemented
in reply to Fedi.Tips

p.s. The US Department of Homeland Security has pinned a video where the CEO of Bluesky says Trump is welcome on Bluesky: bsky.app/profile/homelandgov.b…

This is a genuine clip of the CEO, it's from an interview on Wired and the original source is wired.com/video/watch/the-big-…

It is now very clear what Bluesky stands for, they are welcoming fascists and fascism, even when those fascists are kidnapping and murdering people.

(Thanks @bigbelgianbopper for pointing this out)

in reply to Fedi.Tips

the clip was pinned back in October and was when they got a big influx of government accounts. They’re popular to block.
in reply to Fedi.Tips

I keep asking people (paging @angrystaffer.bsky.social) why they stay on there. This was evident from the start.

@bigbelgianbopper

This morning, I deleted my Bluesky account. I don't want to waste my time on a channel that supports fascism.

in reply to Fedi.Tips

No usen bluesky y no se hagan cuentas, dicha plataforma está a favor del facista criminal de trump y de los nazis del ICE. Si tienen cuentas creadas en esa plataforma eliminen sus cuentas, y no hagan puente con mastodon y bluesky.

One gets the feeling that Bluesky just wants to be a big player and they don't care how they do that. They're just another big tech corporation in other words.

All that "no more caesars" and "billionaire proof" rhetoric they used a while ago was apparently just bullshit. Their centralised structure means they could very easily be bought out by billionaires and every staff member would get rich if it happened, as they are paid in Bluesky shares.

@gunchleoc @MrGR

Truth Social stole code from Mastodon and pretended they had written it. Mastodon gGmbH had to send them a legal threat to get them to admit it was stolen code:

blog.joinmastodon.org/2021/10/…

Truth Social has no connections to any other server, I wouldn't personally call them part of the Fediverse as they don't Federate. And as you say, they'd get blocked if they tried.

in reply to Fedi.Tips

if you want to see what bots look like on BlueSky, just check out the followers of that account
in reply to Fedi.Tips

viewing verifying an official government account as endorsement or "collaboration" is ridiculous. it's good for people to know what their government is saying, that doesn't mean what the government is saying is good
in reply to advaith

"it's good for people to know what their government is saying".

They're masked thugs kidnapping and murdering people in the street, persecuting the relatives and publishing bigoted lies to try to justify it all. They're not even investigating the kidnappers and murderers.

The Trump regime is not giving out neutral info, they're publishing extremist propaganda and lies. Platforming these hateful lies is just helping the kidnappers, thugs and murderers.

@undefined_variable

As far as I can tell, it now won't bridge Fedi stuff to BS without permission, but it will bridge web and blog posts without permission.

If your stuff from Fedi is showing up on BS please let me know.

I don't trust brid.gy as they have this weird mixture of opt in and opt out.

in reply to Fedi.Tips

I've been using it for a good while now, and I haven't found reason to distrust it... yet, at least. In my experience, Bridgy will *only* bridge your posts and replies if you've specifically opted into using the service by following @ bsky.brid.gy@bsky.brid.gy. If you HAVE opted in, you can stop it by blocking that same account - or if you use Bluesky, Mastodon, or Pixelfed, you can log into the bridging interface for that account at fed.brid.gy/login to disable bridging that way. Also while you are opted in, it will *only* bridge posts that are marked as "Public" - if the privacy level is set to anything else, it ignores the post since it can't match that privacy level on Bluesky.

They have extensive documentation posted at fed.brid.gy/docs, and since it's an open source project, you can view their code at github.com/snarfed/bridgy-fed.
