A fish-eye peephole will let you see if someone is hiding against the wall beside the door. It might not be so foolish after all.
in reply to Katherine Bond

The ones in the hotel rooms that I’ve stayed in were.
in reply to Katherine Bond

Simple. If your eyes were at the height of the peep hole, you wouldn't be able to see out if it wasn't there.
in reply to Katherine Bond

Just because you can see me standing here does not mean I am looking at you.

:-}

in reply to Katherine Bond

... or that you are there...

Many years ago, when I lived at my parents' house, a man came to the front door and asked me if we wanted stone cladding on the wall of the property. You know – the stuff that makes a wall look like stone.

He seemed nonnonplussed by my amusement.

The wall at that side was built of stone.

in reply to Katherine Bond

Just noted the "nonnonplussed" in my last comment. This does not imply he was plussed.
in reply to Katherine Bond

He appeared to be rather thick and so would your stone wall be.
in reply to Katherine Bond

I wonder if a friend of his goes door to door offering to gild lilies for a fee.
in reply to Katherine Bond

The wall was about 3 feet thick as it was.

The lilies would be gilded with fool's gold.

in reply to Katherine Bond

He’s the one who decided to demolish the wing without approval, so yes.
