Yes, for Americans, "socialism" means what we call Social Democracy. Kinda what the whole Europe was like after the war especially northern (richer..?) countries. Free education, health... Most public services nationalized and geared towards, well, service rather than profit. It's a nightmare for investors and billionaires. Nowadays you talk about nationalized public service you're dismissed as a commie
