#SilentSunday

What is more silent than the silence over the USA's plunge into Fascism and its opening of militarised concentration camps in 3rd countries on a mass scale, to hold, degrade and abuse otherwise innocent immigrants with no due legal process

There are bourgois mutterings in the media, that's true, but the silence is in the lack of any heartfelt connection to the reality and scale of the crimes against humanity that are unfolding. The silence is from their hearts

For those who may need it, here are my thoughts as I took advantage of the SilentSunday hashtag

Yes, I wanted to reach a wider crowd, but did not do it casually or 'just for clicks'

I completely sympathise with the need to protect mental health at times, and not be exposed to certain news stories, but there is a balance to be struck. My balance was to use USpol and hope those people filter

But this is about concentration camps. Peace of mind isn't an option. They'll come for you eventually

First the Trumpist Regime will "resettle them to the south", and then? Have we all forgotten about the National Socialist Regime who sent the Jewish population, and others, "To the East" already?

The US is long past the opening salvos in its, shall we say, "migration difficulties".

@Thebratdragon ... yes, they do. The AfD had a "conference" in a SchloรŸ by a Berlin lake discussing "remigration". We KNOW what this is a euphemism for, because we have seen it all before.

wannsee

but will the UK do the right thing and arrange the assassination of the chairman of the USA meeting as they did the German one.

in reply to Estarriol, lucozade dragon

@Thebratdragon @alexadeswift A thought about the UK occurred to me in making my OP. I feel we need to be careful we don't think we are 'better' than this just because currently the US is deeper into the abyss. We have plenty of our own unaddressed demons and have no idea what they would be capable of if they were unleashed. That's why it's important we listen to our better angels now. This is the time to be better. And that involves breaking with everything the US is doing

@alexadeswift

sadly we have an English government that is copying them step for step.

We are over the edge of the abyss, just not dropping as fast.

when Police Storm a Quaker meeting house to arrest people for 'conspiracy to commit Public Nuisance' we are already into fascism.

in reply to Estarriol, lucozade dragon

@Thebratdragon @alexadeswift Yes, this is all true. And the fact that it's happening under a Labour Government speaks volumes about the fakeness of our democracy and Labour as a real party, independent of the UK State and monied interests that own it

I don't buy that they are just ignorant or showing poor judgement. This is a setup

in reply to Greenseer (Dionne/Dee) ๐Ÿฉท๐Ÿ‡

@Thebratdragon they know exactly what they are doing. And considering that a graduated wealth tax starting at 1% and rising to say, 5% form those with multiples of millions and perhaps higher for the billionaires would have minimal impact upon their growing wealth (it would still grow under such a tax I think, although I am not an economist!), but would probably get government income back into the black reasonably quickly, and without having to cut benefits for he worst off, well, harm seems to be the point.
in reply to Alexa Devreux-Swift

@alexadeswift @Thebratdragon
unless you heavily increase taxes on pasive income, the wealth of the richest will always increase. Most millionaires and all billionaires get he majority of their income through owning stuff, not through work.
The trouble with a "wealth tax" is that the majority of what the wealthy own has a subjective value, and you will find that things are suddenly valued at a much lower level once that value is taxed. Not that I think it shouldn't be tried.
